Artisan Food Technologist Role at Risk
The role of Artisan Food Technologist for the Dairy Sector at Teagasc, which is funded by the Dept. of Community, Gaeltacht and Rural Affairs, is currently at risk due to budgetary cuts.
CAIS believes this role, currently held by Sara McSweeney at Teagasc Moorepark, to be of vital importance to the sector. Over the past 2 years Sara has worked with closely with CAIS and has been of great service to Cheese makers, particularly on important training and regulatory issues.
CAIS is actively lobbying to retain this role and have written to the Minister and all relevant bodies to highlight its importance.
To date we have had a response from Minister O’Cuiv to say that he agrees with the importance of these roles and that he will endeavour to retain them in 2010.
